New Claims

To make a claim, either you, or your representative (in the case of death or serious injury), must complete the relevant claim form. To help you assess your claim as quickly as possible, it's essential that you provide us with all the information requested on the claim form.

Incomplete information will delay our assessment and decision - lengthening the time it takes us to finalise your claim.

Making a Car insurance claim

To make a claim, simply call the car insurance claims hotline on 1300 885 996 and one of our helpful claims staff will assist you with lodging your claim. They will also walk you through the claims process so you have a clear understanding of exactly what will happen after you lodge your claim and the timeframes involved.

To ensure your claim is managed as efficiently as possible, please try and have the following information ready when you call.
  • Your GE Money car insurance policy number
  • Details of the accident
  • Details of all other cars involved
  • Details for any other drivers involved and the name of their insurer
  • The police report number

Making a claim for Disability

To submit a Disability claim you need to:

  • quote your policy number, or personal loan or credit card account number;
  • have your doctor or medical specialist complete in full the section headed ‘Statement of Attending Medical Practitioner' on the claim form;
  • have your employer complete in full the section headed  “Statement of employer”;
  • have completed the section headed ‘Statement of Insured’ on the claim form  and attach any supporting evidence; and
  • sign and date the declaration.

You must also provide copies of any additional information or documentation that supports your claim, such as medical evidence or Workers Compensation documents and/or Centrelink documentation.

Making a claim for Involuntary Unemployment

To submit an Involuntary Unemployment claim you must:

  • quote your policy number or personal loan or credit card account number;
  • have your employer complete the section headed ‘Statement of Employer' on the claim form;
  • have completed the section headed ‘Statement of Insured’ on the claim form;
  • regardless of whether or not you are eligible for federal government unemployment benefits, provide us with evidence that you have registered as a job seeker with Centrelink; and
  • sign and date the declaration.

You must also provide copies of any additional information or documentation that supports your claim, such as a Separation Certificate or letters from your Employer.

Making a claim for a Critical Illness

To submit a Critical Illness claim you need to:

  • quote your policy number or personal loan or credit card account number;
  • have your doctor or medical specialist complete in full the section headed 'Statement of Attending Medical Practitioner' on the claim form
  • have your employer complete in full the section headed "Statement of employer";
  • have completed the section headed ‘Statement of Insured’ on the claim form  and attach any supporting evidence; and
  • sign and date the declaration.

You must also provide copies of any additional information or documentation that supports your claim, such as medical evidence or Workers Compensation documents and/or Centrelink documentation.

Making a claim for Credit Life (as part of your Credit Card or Personal Loan insurance)

To submit a claim for death, your representative must provide the following evidence:

  • a letter containing the policy number or personal loan or credit card account number and a brief explanation of the circumstances of the death;
  • certified copy of the original Birth Certificate; and
  • certified copy of the original Death Certificate.

You should also provide copies of any additional information or documentation that supports the claim such as a police report, medical reports, Coroners report or newspaper clippings if relevant.


Making a claim for Price Protection

To submit a Price Protection claim you must:

  • complete the Price Protection claim form;
  • have completed a Price Verification Form;
  • provide proof of original purchase price; and
  • sign and date the declaration;

Making a claim for Merchandise Protection

To submit a Merchandise Protection claim you must:

  • complete the Merchandise Protection claim form;
  • attach the original receipt(s) for the item(s) for which you are claiming;
  • attach a statement itemising the purchase;
  • obtain and include any required estimates;
  • retain any damaged articles for inspection;
  • provide a copy of the police or fire brigade report (if applicable); and
  • sign and date the declaration.

Making a claim for Term Life

To submit a Life claim on behalf of the deceased, choose the Fact Pack relevant to the state in which the Policy Holder lived.

The Fact Pack contains all the information you need to know for lodging a claim, including the obligations we have as the insurer under the various state laws.

Once you have read through the Fact Pack, complete the Term Life Claim Form, attach your evidence and any other documents required and return it to us as soon as possible.

Making a claim under the Bounce Back Policy

To submit a Bounce Back claim you need to:

  • quote your policy number;
  • have your doctor or medical specialist complete the section headed 'Statement of Attending Medical Practitioner';
  • have completed the section headed 'Statement of Insured' on the claim; and
  • sign and date the declaration.

You must also provide copies of any additional information or documentation that supports your claim, such as medical evidence or Workers Compensation documents and/or Centrelink documentation.

Making a Total Loss Protection claim

To submit a Total Loss Protection claim, you need to:

  • quote policy number or your personal loan account number;
  • attach confirmation  from your Comprehensive insurer of your total loss benefit payment including a breakdown of the amounts paid;
  • have completed the section headed ‘Statement of Insured’ on the claim form; and
  • sign and date the declaration.
